Persistent Mama (3).png

Okay, so I know we are more than halfway through January, but never late then never right.

Personally, I prefer to pick words to focus on rather than specific goals. I find this makes them more manageable and I am less likely to give up on them

So my words for 2023 are organization and health. More explanation below!

Organization: 2023 needs to be the year I get organized - my home, my finances, my goals, my life - you name it, I want to organize it.

Currently, I am on a war against clutter in my house. Why do we keep so many things we never use? So I am trying to sell a ton of stufff on Marketplace (because hello, I am completely broke) and this is super frustrating. But it's getting done even if it's just a little bit at a time.

Also, I am completely obsessed with The Home Edit and I would like to home edit my house. If you have not seen The Home Edit (website linked, but it is also a show on Netflix), I recommend it - but be prepared to want to organize everything! I had to stop watching it at night because I wanted to immediately get started. One of their big things is containment and I want to buy all the cute containers! But containers cost a lot of money. So coming soon, I am going to try to organize my mudroom and laundry room without buying anything! Check back on the blog to see the results!

Health: Physical health, mental health, emotional health, financial health - all the health this year for me and my family!

Since having my little one in 2021, being a healthy person has been more important than ever. I want to be sure I get to be around for a long time to see everything in his life and I want to be a part of it, not just sitting on the side. So I am on a mission to be healthier. But after a lifetime of bad habits, that is easier said than done. I have been overweight my whole life and want to set my little one up for a much healthier life. I know that I must be an example if I expect him to be healthy - so I am working on it!

Note: I am working on being healthy and trying not to be so focused on weight. This is hard, but I believe that if I can work on healthy habits, a healthier weight will follow. Also, I am working with my doctor on this.

So next week I am starting off this health kick with a fast. In general, this is not my jam and I do not feel long fasts or cleanses are super healthy (for me). However, this particular fast was recommend to my mom from some physicians she works with as a way to reset. My mom wanted an accountability partner, so I agreed to do it with her. Sunday, I am starting the Pro Lon 5 day fast - we will see how it goes. So get ready for updates next week. :-)

What are your 2023 goals/words? I would love to see what other people are working on this year. Let me know in the comments!

I am working on creating some content and want to give you a little sneak peek of what to expect from this blog. I hope it will make you want to follow along! :-)

Each day (Monday - Friday) there will be a different series to follow along with. So starting next week you can expect the following:

  • Monday: Health/Wellness Post

  • Tuesday: Mama Talks

  • Wednesday: Books to read with kids

  • Thursday: A kids activity

  • Friday: Organization

Then of course there will be other miscellaneous posts covering all sorts of topics. There will be a variety of topics covering helpful information and real life parenting.

Drop a comment below if there is any topic you would love to see on a mama blog!

It is new year and I decided to step (leap?) out of my comfort zone and start a blog about the experience of motherhood. Why when there are so many other motherhood blogs out there?

Reason 1: Sometimes I feel like I alone am struggling at this whole motherhood thing. I LOVE being a mama. It is the best thing I have ever done by far, but am I doing it right? And while logically, I know that there is not a "right" way to mama, sometimes I see those put together mamas out there, and I feel like I should be doing more. BUT I know I am doing my best and I need to leave the mom-guilt behind (#goals). So I hope by putting out some not-so-perfect experiences, other mamas will feel seen too.

Reason 2: I process my experiences best through communicating about them. So I am hoping this will be a fun and creative outlet to share and process my motherhood experiences and hopefully (maybe) make the experience better for someone else too.

Reason 3: Let's be 100% honest here - I am hoping that one day I may be able to monetize this thing. My husband and I both work full time, but goodness life (and especially life with kids) is EXPENSIVE. Just today as I was writing this post I had a repair person stop by to look at an issue we are having with our home and they said it would cost $17,000 to 18,000 to repair. Okay, let me go buy some lottery tickets.... But in 2023 we are working to pay off debt, build some sort of savings, and maybe invest in our house a bit (this may be overly ambitious for one year, but here goes nothing).

SO if you here and are reading this, I want to say THANK YOU! I think you are the best for reading this and being here in this community. I hope you will find it beneficial and entertaining - and I would love to hear any thoughts you have about what you would like to see on the blog.

A note: My goal is to make this a blog for ALL mamas, no matter what season of parenting you are in. Please know I aim to make posts that are applicable to all ages. That being said, I am currently in the toddler season, so there may be more posts for the little ages right now. Maybe one day I can add contributing authors with kids in all different seasons. For now, if you want to see a particular topic, please ask because I will do some research and do my best to deliver!

So I hope you will stay on this journey with me! And I appreciate any and all support of this crazy idea I am trying to make work to help me, my family, and hopefully some other mamas out there.

Remember, you are kicking butt at this mama thing!
